Bill Nye of the Web Dating world

I guess I should start off this blog with a bit of an introduction.  I don't know why I should start it off this way, but for some reason it just feels necessary.

My name is Serena and I'm a 28 year old single female living in the great state of Texas.  I'm starting this blog to chronically my recent impulsive idea to try a little experiment.  Well, I don't know if one would consider this an experiment because I'm not testing out any hypothesis or theory. Anyhoo! I'm going off the topic that I have yet to put on this blog. I've decided to blog about my adventures or maybe lack of adventures in online dating.  Online dating has been such a wonderfully entertaining freak show that I feel the need to share this with who ever is bored enough to find this blog and read it.

Sooooo.....I guess I should tell you (whoever is reading this) a little about myself.  Like I said above I'm a 28 year old female that has been back in the "dating scene" for almost four years now.  I found it rather difficult to meet guys to date in real life because I have no clue how to flirt.  I seriously have no clue how to flirt.  I know how ridiculous this sounds, but trust me, my idea of flirting is corny pick up lines and trying not trip over my feet while giving them the "eye of the tiger" (I will explain this in a later blog).  I honestly thought I was a lost cause and had to rely on friends or, god forbid, family members to set me up on dates.

Then at the age of 25 I discovered my first *free* dating website.  At first I was a bit apprehensive, then after investigating a bit, I realized that maybe this might not be so bad.  I have to admit this website, I thought, was the light at the end of my dateless tunnel.  It gave me hope that I could some how meet guys and they would never see my Steve Urkel awkwardness as I try to come up with something witty to say.  With this new found hope, I embarked onto what I know now as the freak show of online dating.

I know this may sound like a blog totally bashing online dating, but it's not.  I've had some really awesome dates and met some really awesome guys, but I've also had some really horribly bad (but funny) experiences.  Keep in mind that I lovingly use the term "freak" show to describe dating website.  I guess I should stop this blog post now before I end up writing a novel.  I hope whoever reads this finds this mildly entertaining. At least entertaining enough to get back tomorrow or maybe even later tonight as I discuss my guidelines that I have set for meeting someone from a dating website, as well as one of my first date experiences.  So, until next time blog world, have a good one.
